Hedge End Methodist football club compete in the Solent Churches league. The Solent Churches football league is a league consisting of church teams whose aims are to use football as a tool to share the Christian message with others.
The club was formed in 2009 by Steve Garley to give the opportunity for members to play competitive football with a high regard for Christian values and ethics that does not tolerate foul language or abusive behaviour.
The club has grown hugely since it first started. The original team have been promoted into division 2 and have won two charity cup finals.
We train together once a week on Thursday evenings and play our matches on Saturday mornings.
Before a match, the two teams playing each other gather in a circle around the centre circle and the home team manager/ captain prays aloud for all the players.
All players in both Methodist football teams are extremely friendly, encouraging each other at every opportunity, and celebrating together, everyone hugely enjoys playing for the club.
Even though some members of the club are not Christian or religious, they fully respect the faith and abide by the league and club rules.
