Jesus orders the storm to stop raging and the waves and the wind calm down.

Creative Weekend

There have been many different Creative activities undertaken in the church over this weekend we have made things ranging from Paintings to Scarecrows. We started on Saturday Morning at Jammy Church where a happy time was had by all despite the theme for the day being “The Ten Plagues “. This continued the Jammy Church exploration of the story of Moses. There were about 50 people who attended aged from 2 to possibly 82 (we did not ask). Pictures were painted of many aspects of the story, some on traditional paper and some on pieces of Bread. Also some games were played and we were entertained by the puppet group.

On Sunday Morning the Preacher was Mrs Jane Castle. During her talk to us all she illustrated the story of Matthew 18 v 21 -35  ( The Parable of the Unmerciful servant ) by painting a picture on a large Piece of paper and adding the people and the bags of Money etc as she spoke about them. She left the picture with us.

After the service whilst most of us were enjoying a drink and a chat, people could be found working in the schoolroom. They were completing the Scarecrows ready to be put out the front of the Church to invite people to attend our Harvest Festival service next Sunday.

It was good to see the many creative talents of the Church Community.

Fun This Saturday

ImageDuring the Morning of Saturday 14th June from 10.30 to 12.30 we will be holding our next “Jammy Church”.  This is an activity session for children, their families and the young at heart.  Each session is based on a biblical story or incident.  This Months session is based on the story of “The Feast”.  You will need to come along to find out more of what that is about.  There will be various activities and crafts to take part in and some food to eat.  You do not need to attend all the session; you could just pop in to see what we are up to.  Last Months session was based around the story of Moses and the Burning bush.  April’s session was Easter; a picture of some of what was made at the Easter session is shown above.

Jammy Church is still running!

We apologise that the Saturday School website “www.jammychurch.co.uk”  has now not been working for the last couple of weeks.  The state has been brought to the attention of one of the webmasters of the site.  Please be assured that Saturday School will still run on the second Saturday of each month, and that hopefully the problem will soon be fixed.  In the meantime please refer to the calendar and details on this site, or the Saturday School facebook page.

Childrens Church Saturday

2014-01-25 10.31.35 (edited)

Our theme today was the Prodigal Son.  The children made piggy biscuits and piggy masks.  Richard helped in the construction of home made compasses.  We enjoyed the performance from the puppeteers.   To celebrate the  third year of the childrens group (which we call Jammy Church) everyone ate their share of a big cake with lots of sweets on it.  Everyone had a baked potato lunch together.

Nativity construction day

Yesterday our younger friends had fun at our Saturday craft and fun day (we call JAMMY church).  We made nativity scenes out of gingerbread, and enjoyed our regular puppeteer group.  We did lots more craft, played games and sung carols.  We express our ongoing gratitude to the puppeteers. Everyone had a fun time.  We finished with a sit down roast meal for fifty of us.
