160 years of Methodism in Hedge End

In 1857 a group of people got together in Hedge End to start a society of Bible Christians. This was the origin of what is now Hedge End Methodist Church. Celebrations of the 160th Anniversary of this event will be taking place later this year.

We will be celebrating over the weekend of 24th and 25th June. It has so far been arranged that on Saturday afternoon  (from 2p.m. to 5.p.m) . we will be serving free light refreshments to everyone who turns up. We intend to advertise this widely beforehand in order to encourage people formerly associated with the Church to return to visit, and also the local Community to come and see us.

On Sunday 25th June our celebrations will continue in the Sunday Service which will be conducted by Barry Matthews (who was our Minister from 1966 to 1968)

We have not yet finalised all the arrangements for this weekend, and would welcome your help and ideas as we would like everyone who is associated with the Church to be involved.

If you are able to help (with serving the refreshments,  or in any other way) , or have any ideas for enhancing the celebrations (including adding further events) please speak to one of the Stewards.

We will of course keep you informed of more details as they are worked out. Please watch this space. Details will also be put in the notices and the magazine to ensure everyone knows what is happening..

We hope that you are all able to keep this date free, so that you are able to be with the Church Family on this happy occasion.
